Local Area

West Dorset has many wonderful pubs and restaurants and you will be spoilt for choice in and around the local villages.  However, you may opt for taking the short drive in to Dorchester where you will find restaurants serving international cuisine.

Dalkeith is very well positioned for those wishing to take the Condor (passenger and car ferry) to the Channel Islands and France from Weymouth.  It is approximately a 20 minute drive to the ferry port.  In addition there is the attraction of Portland and the Sailing Academy where the 2012 Sailing Olympics will take place as well as the amazing 14 miles of the Chesil Beach, Abbotsbury Swannery, Lyme Regis, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove,  Corfe Castle, Sandbanks and Poole, Sherborne Abbey, all being within a 45 minute drive.  A little further and you can enjoy a shopping trip to Bournemouth to the east and Exeter to the west.
